At noon on Friday, March 31, we rang the steeple bell at First Church in downtown New London. The bell's mournful chime, as was intended more than a century ago, dwarfed the sounds from the traffic and the city. It did so just for sixty seconds.
The bell will ring again next Friday, April 7 at noon, just for sixty seconds. We will ring it every Friday thereafter until the last of our troops are home from the war in Iraq. ¶ 4:46 AM
